Gator Bowl Sports Announces New Chairman, Board

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —Gator Bowl Sports announced today this year’s new leadership.  Heather Duncan, regional director of external affairs for AT&T Florida, will take the reins as the 2015 Chairman of Gator Bowl Sports.

Duncan has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 25 years and with AT&T since 1994. She is a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville, the Northeast Florida Regional Leadership Academy and Leadership Florida. The Jacksonville Business Journal named her one of the top five executives of large companies in 2007 and one of its “2008 Women of Influence.”

In addition to serving as chairman for Gator Bowl Sports, she also serves on the boards of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Television, Motion Picture and Commercial Production, Dreams Come True of Jacksonville as a past chairman, and the JAXUSA Partnership Policy Council.

Duncan has previously served on the boards of Cathedral Arts Project, Volunteers in Medicine, UNF’s Coggin College of Business Advisory Council and the Jacksonville Downtown Rotary Club, where she received the Paul Harris Award for community service. Duncan is originally from Laurel, Miss. and is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.

Chairman Duncan will preside over all three Gator Bowl Sports entities, the Jacksonville Sports Council, TaxSlayer Bowl and Gator Bowl Charities.

Serving as Chairman-Elect of Gator Bowl Sports is David Boree, president of W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor Inc. With more than 30 years experience in both project design and construction, Boree began his contracting experience as a laborer working for W.W. Gay in the summers. His National Environmental Balancing Bureau certifications include air, hydronics, sound, vibration and commissioning. His work experience includes hospitals, office buildings, retrofits, industrial projects, steam plants, computer facilities, restaurants, site utilities, parking garages, correction facilities, indoor air quality and clean room testing.

Boree serves as a supervisor and proctor for NEBB in the areas of test and balance. He is Past President of Northeast Florida ASHRAE, Northeast Florida Engineering Society and State Chapter of NEBB. He has served as a board member of the Association of General Contractors, JCCI, PACE Center for Girls, Catholic Charities, JU Council and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

Boree’s  current civic involvements include serving as board member of Downtown Jacksonville Rotary Club, University of Florida Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board, TaxSlayer Bowl Membership Chairman, UNF Engineering Advisory Council and Northeast Florida Executive Board of Boy Scouts of Florida.

Boree received the State of Florida “Young Engineer of the Year” Award, issued by the Florida Engineering Society and the National Association of Professional Engineers. He graduated from the University of Florida where he earned his mechanical engineering degree. He is a registered professional engineer in Florida, Georgia, Texas and Arkansas. He is a certified mechanical, plumbing, solar and pollutant storage contractor. Boree was born in Jacksonville and has one daughter, Danielle. His hobbies include boating, fishing, scuba diving, golf, all sports and snow skiing.
