JACKSONVILLE (Florida Sports Network) - The Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Conference and United Athletic Conference (UAC) have announced that the University of West Florida will transition to the NCAA Division I level and join both leagues beginning Fall 2026. UWF will compete in the ASUN as a full multi-sport member, in addition to joining the UAC as a football-playing affiliate.  Beginning July 1, 2026, the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) will rebrand as the UAC and together, the ASUN and UAC will form a consortium. This first-of-its-kind alliance will support collaborative scheduling, shared operational efficiencies and expanded competition opportunities.  JACKSONVILLE - Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Commissioner Jeff Bacon announced Wednesday a multi-year agreement to bring the ASUN Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments to Jacksonville, Fla., starting in 2026. This marks the first time since 2013 that the conference conducts both of its basketball postseason events at a single site. “The decision to move the tournaments to Jacksonville represents a significant milestone for the ASUN and underscores the city's growing reputation as a premier destination for major sporting events,” said Bacon. “The process over the past year has been exhaustive and I have been tremendously impressed by the volume of interest in our tournaments from so many incredible cities and venues.   ATLANTA -  Jacksonville University men's golfer Joseph Sullivan was named ASUN Golfer of the Week. The junior from Warninglid, England earned the conference recognition for the first time in his career, and is also the first winner from JU this season. Sullivan placed second at The Southern Invitational, helping the Dolphins to the team title at The Falls Club in Palm Beach, Florida earlier this week. He shot two sub-70 rounds and finished with a 54-hole score of 208, the third-lowest of his career. He led the field in pars, with 40, and eagles, making two, and was also the second-lowest scorer on Par-4s for the week, shooting 3-under. Sullivan and the rest of the men's golf team are back on the course next week, competing in the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial on Monday and Tuesday in Charlottesville, Virginia .

ATLANTA -  Jacksonville University baseball senior Hogan McIntosh was named ASUN Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. McIntosh helped the Dolphins to a 3-2 week, with wins over top-10 Florida and a series victory against Southeastern Louisiana, highlighted by his walk-off, three-run home run on Sunday afternoon. The Charleston Southern transfer extended his team-high hit streak to nine games and registered multi-hit games in four of the five he played in last week. He now has a team-best six multi-hit games on the year. McIntosh drove in at least one run in all five games as well, memorably punctuated by his first home run of the year, a walk-off three-run shot to beat SLU and deliver the series win to JU. He is the first Dolphin to receive Player of the Week honors since Scott Dubrule was recognized on May 14, 2018.
