JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- No. 3 overall draft pick Dante Fowler, Jr. tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the first day of practice at the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie minicamp. The Jaguars confirmed the severity of the injury, which was initially reported by ESPN, on Friday. Fowler will undergo surgery in the coming weeks and is expected to miss the entire 2015 season. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive end went down during a drill when his left leg buckled as he rushed the passer. He was helped off the field by trainers. Fowler was drafted third overall last week after racking up 14 1/2 sacks in three seasons at Florida. "I'm excited about this moment, as I'm just living it up right now," said Fowler following his selection. "All my hard work has paid off, but I still have a lot of great things to do. I'm just very blessed." Fowler is the 47th Gator drafted all-time in the first round and tied him for the highest a Gator was picked since the 1966 NFL-AFL merger.
