XFL: Guardians' Patton Signs with Atlanta Falcons

ORLANDO ( www.jaxsportsnews.com ) –  The XFL and Orlando Guardians announced today that defensive lineman Caeveon Patton has signed a contract with the National Football League’s Atlanta Falcons. Patton was an All-XFL performer for the Guardians in the 2023 season. He recorded 40 tackles from his interior defensive line position, ranking No. 3 on the team and No. 17 in the XFL. Patton was No. 7 in the XFL in tackles for loss with 5. Patton is the third Orlando Guardians player to sign with an NFL team since the conclusion of the XFL season, joining wide receiver Charleston Rambo (Philadelphia Eagles) and tight end Jordan Thomas (Carolina Panthers). With six  players  signing with NFL teams over the past two days, the total number of XFL players who have signed NFL contracts is now 43. The Orlando Guardians will retain Patton’s rights should he return to the XFL.

XFL: Guardians Select Seven Defensive Players, Three Offensive Linemen

ORLANDO ( www.sportsdayjax.com ) – The 2023 XFL Rookie Draft was held Friday, with each team selecting the rights to 10 players.  Seven of Orlando’s selections were on the defensive side of the ball, including three defensive linemen, two linebackers and two defensive backs. The three offensive players chosen by the Guardians were all offensive linemen. XFL: Orlando Guardians Drop Nailbiter at San Antonio, 25-23

  SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (SportsDay) – Down by eight late in the fourth quarter, the Orlando Guardians had a shot to tie the game, but failed to capitalize on a two-point conversion, as the San Antonio Brahmas escaped with a 25-23 win Saturday night at the Alamodome. San Antonio (3-6 overall) remains in third place in the XFL South, while Orlando (1-8 overall) sits in fourth place. The Guardians got on the board first on a six play, 73-yard drive led by quarterback Quinten Dormady. XFL: QB Flowers Signs with the Orlando Guardians

ORLANDO (Florida Sports Wire ) – The XFL announced that quarterback Quinton Flowers has signed with the Orlando Guardians.  Flowers, 28, joins the XFL after playing in the Fan Controlled Football in 2021. He played for the Tampa Bay Vipers in the 2020 version of the XFL, where he was 8-of-15 passing for 106 yards, while rushing for 4.9 yards per carry with a touchdown.  Flowers was a three-year starter at the University of South Florida, where he owns 42 career, season or single-game records. He passed for 8,124 yards and 71 touchdowns in his career with the Bulls. He holds the USF and American Athletic Conference records for career total offense (11,802 yards). Flowers was just the fourth player in FBS history to post 8,000 passing and 3,500 rushing yards in a collegiate career. Flowers was the AAC Offensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-AAC honors in 2016. He was a Second Team All-AAC performer in 2017. XFL Orlando Guardians Sign QB Paxton Lynch

 ORLANDO (Florida Sports Wire) – The XFL announced that quarterback Paxton Lynch has signed with the Orlando Guardians.  Lynch, 28, joins the XFL after playing for the USFL in 2022, playing six games. Lynch was a first-round selection of the Denver Broncos in the 2016 NFL Draft, spending two seasons with the club.  He also has experience with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. was a three-year starter at the University of Memphis, where he ranks No. 3 all-time in pass completions (758) and passing yards (8,863), No. 4 in touchdowns responsible for (76) and touchdown passes (59).  He holds the school record for single-season completion percentage (.668/2015) and ranks No. 3 on the Tigers’ single-season passing yards list (3,776/2015). He earned a bachelor’s degree from Memphis in May of 2016. Lynch is a native of Deltona, Fla. and a graduate of Trinity Christian Academy.
