Bender was placed on the injured list on June 30 with a right shin stress reaction. He had pitched in 35 games for Miami prior to his injury, going 1-1 with a 2.62 ERA. (www,jaxsportsday.com) – Jace Beck tossed a no-hitter on Sunday in the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp’s 4-0 rain-shortened, five-inning victory over the Gwinnett Stripers from Gwinnett Field. The only base runner Beck (1-1) yielded came on an error to begin the bottom of the first before he retired the next 15 batters, five via strikeout. The contest was halted with Jacksonville (57-55, 15-23) leading 4-0 following the fifth inning due to inclement weather.  Beck’s no-hitter was the second of the season for Jacksonville, following Braxton Garrett’s 8.0-inning no-hitter in a 2-0 loss on April 21, also at Gwinnett. Beck was one of two players traded by the Chicago Cubs for Garrett on August 3 to the Marlins. The setback marked the first time a Jacksonville (50-48, 8-16) club has lost 10 straight games in its recorded history (2005-present). The Jumbo Shrimp fell for the 14th time in the last 15 games; 10 of those defeats have come by just one run. Jacksonville led 2-1 when Allan Castro led off the fourth with a single. Milbrandt joins former Jumbo Shrimp and currently active Marlins Max Meyer (2021) and Joe Mack (2025) as active Jumbo Shrimp players since 2021 to earn a selection. Junk was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 28 with right shin bone inflammation. JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp catcher Brian Navarreto was honored with the Miami Marlins’ inaugural Next Wave monthly awards for April, taking home the organization’s Fish of the Month.  The Marlins’ Fish of the Month award recognizes a player who fully embodies what it means to be a great teammate within the Marlins’ organization.  Navarreto has played in 12 games with the Jumbo Shrimp in 2026, going 10-for-40 (.250) at the plate with four doubles, one home run, five RBIs, one walk and four runs scored. A native of Levittown, Puerto Rico, Navarreto came to Florida to attend Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville.   JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp left-hander Braxton Garrett has been named the International League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 7-13, Minor League Baseball announced Monday. Garrett is the first Jumbo Shrimp pitcher to earn a weekly honor in during the 2026 campaign. In his third start of the season, Garrett fired 6.0 no-hit innings with six strikeouts against just one walk. He needed only 66 pitches against the Norfolk Tides Sunday afternoon. Thus far in 2026, the southpaw has totaled 15.1 innings while allowing just one run (one earned run) on four hits with five walks against 17 strikeouts. He’s also held opponents to a mere .082 batting average against. Garrett’s 15.1 innings ranks seventh in the International and his 17 strikeouts are tied for 14th.
