They did ink cornerback Montaric Brown, linebacker Dennis Gardek, former Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez - who could turn out to be a steal - and tight end Quintin Morris. The Jags also quietly signed Seattle wide receiver Jake Bobo to an offer sheet. Bobo made $3.51 million last season. But are the Jags the favorite in the AFC West? The Colts brought back quarterback Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce, and there’s talk that Russell Wilson will be Jones’ backup. Jones went down with a torn Achilles last year against Jacksonville in a game the Jags were apparently set to lose. Houston has picked up some pieces, and they have strengthened the pocket around controversial quarterback C.J. Stroud.   Jacksonville squeaked by Arizona last Sunday in an ugly, overtime win. Now, it’s a must win in Tennessee this Sunday. Against Arizona, it was the type of game that the Jaguars would typically lose in the past few years. But they pulled it out with Cam Little’s 52-yard field goal.  In Las Vegas a few weeks ago, the Jags had another ugly, overtime game, keeping the Raiders in the game until the very end.   A failed two-point conversion for the win from Raiders’ quarterback Geno Smith, who missed a wide open receiver in the back of the end zone, sent them home with a reprieve from Sin City. It was another game they could have easily lost, and let slip away. Maybe that’s saying something for this Jaguars’ team. They may just have the mogo to be a playoff team and get back to the level where they were in 2022. The Jags have found some much-needed resiliency and grit.   GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward was selected with the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans Thursday night. Ward became the third Hurricane to ever be selected No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft and the first since 1991, when defensive tackle Russell Maryland was taken by the Dallas Cowboys with the draft’s top pick. Quarterback Vinny Testaverde was also selected No. 1 overall in 1987 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The first Hurricane to be selected in the first round since defensive ends Greg Rousseau and Jaelan Phillips in 2021, Ward won the Manning Award and the Davey O’Brien Award honoring the nation’s top quarterback after a prolific 2024 season with the Hurricanes. In addition to leading Miami to a 10-win season, Ward was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and the winner of the ACC Player of the Year honor, a first for a Hurricane student-athlete. Josh Allen recovered a Joshua Dobbs fumble and ran 37-yards for the winning touchdown with 3:01 to play.  Feeding off the energy on an announced crowd of 70,050, the Jaguars battled back to take their first lead of the game on Allen's TD. It was his second fumble recovery of the season and first score. Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence was 20 of 32 passing for 212 yards. Christian Kirk caught six passes for 99 yards.  Tyson Campbell picked off  Dobbs at the end of the third quarter and returned it 29 yards to the Tennessee 25. Titans running back Derrick Henry ran for 121 yards in the contest. But on this day, the Titans didn't do much else right. The Titans turned the ball over four times in the game, including three times in the first half, which led to 17 points. "Nothing was good enough today," Titans coach Mike Vrabel said. "Yeah, we're frustrated. It sucks to lose." The Jaguars scored 29 straight points at one point in the contest before a Tennessee touchdown in the fourth quarter. But by then, it was too little, too late. While the Jaguars were harassing Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who was sacked four times, the Titans defense couldn't get to Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who wasn't sacked while throwing for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
