NASHVILLE (JaxSportsTicker) -  Jacksonville University men's basketball fell on a buzzer-beater three-pointer to Lipscomb, 62-59, at Allen Arena on Saturday. The Dolphins (13-14, 6-10) held the Bisons without a point for the final 5:38 of the game, until surrendering the banked in 25-footer as the horn sounded. JU used a strong shooting first half and an opportunistic defense to take an eight-point lead into the break. The two teams traded buckets early, with the game tied at 12 at the first media timeout. Mike Marsh hit a hook shot and Kevion Nolan swished a stepback three with 11:32 left in the half to give JU its first two possession lead of the night, 19-14. FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's basketball team won its first-ever Atlantic Sun championship and earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament Sunday as sophomore Brandi Buie hit a jumper with three seconds to play to nail down a 56-54 victory over the two-time defending champions, Florida Gulf Coast. JU (22-10) fought back from a 13-point deficit to make it was a one-point game, the Dolphins down, at the 6:24, 4:40 and 1:10 marks of the fourth quarter, before freshman Jasmyn Brown split a pair at the free-throw line to tie the game at 54-all with 37 seconds left in regulation. Buie, the tournament's Most Valuable Player, scored the game-winning basket as time ran down. Buie finished the evening with a team-high 16 points while Sherranda Reddick added 11 and Briona Brown 10. All three were named to the Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University’s men’s basketball team took down Stetson 75-60 on Saturday with an impressive defensive performance, limiting the Hatters to 30.3 percent shooting and just 18.5 percent from three. “Tonight we were pretty good, for the most part,” said Head Coach Tony Jasick. “We had a couple of plays late that could have worked out a bit better, but when we were focused in it went well.” The Hatters would scrap their way to a 33-33 tie with 18:30 remaining with a 7-0 run, but JU responded with a run of its own, outscoring Stetson 10-3 over the next three minutes, leading 43-36 at the first media. The Dolphins’ defense locked in for the next four minutes, allowing just one bucket in nine attempts by the Hatters. Jacksonville’s lead would stretch to 16 points, 56-40, with two three-pointers by Darien Fernandez at 9:27.
