ORLANDO ( www.jaxsportsnews.com ) –  The XFL and Orlando Guardians announced today that defensive lineman Caeveon Patton has signed a contract with the National Football League’s Atlanta Falcons. Patton was an All-XFL performer for the Guardians in the 2023 season. He recorded 40 tackles from his interior defensive line position, ranking No. 3 on the team and No. 17 in the XFL. Patton was No. 7 in the XFL in tackles for loss with 5. Patton is the third Orlando Guardians player to sign with an NFL team since the conclusion of the XFL season, joining wide receiver Charleston Rambo (Philadelphia Eagles) and tight end Jordan Thomas (Carolina Panthers). With six  players  signing with NFL teams over the past two days, the total number of XFL players who have signed NFL contracts is now 43. The Orlando Guardians will retain Patton’s rights should he return to the XFL.

Quarterback EJ Perry played the entire game for the Jaguars. He completed 19 of 27 for 201 yards passing, with a pair of interceptions. Wide receiver Tim Jones caught three passes for 103 yards. “I think he did some good things. I did feel like maybe there were some things he tried to press a  little bit. Tried to make something happen, which sometimes young players can do that especially a quarterback," said Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson of Perry's day. "Overall, he made some really good decisions, good throws, played tough, played physical, took some shots during the second half.” Perry is projected to play behind starter Trevor Lawrence and veteran backup CJ Beathard. By MIKE BONTS JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (FSW) --  Shayne Graham kicked three field goals as the Atlanta Falcons held on for a 23-17 win over Jacksonville Sunday at EverBank Field. Graham kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. The score was set up by a Blake Bortles' interception ran back 84 yards by Kemal Ishmeal. Graham added two in the final quarter. The Falcons, reeling from a 38-0 loss last week to NFC South rival Carolina, had a 17-3 advantage at the half. Bortles scored his second rushing touchdown in as many weeks to cut the visitors lead on the opening drive of the second half. Following a Matt Ryan interception by Paul Posluszny, Allen Robinson caught a 10-yard score from Bortles to tie the game. Posluszny now has three interceptions this season tying Davon House for the club lead.
