  TALLAHASSEE  ( Florida SportsWire ) – Florida State and Georgia have mutually agreed to cancel the schools’ home-and-home series scheduled for 2027 and 2028. The Seminoles and Bulldogs are now in discussion to play a neutral-site matchup soon. “As we considered the effects of evolving scheduling mandates within both the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference, we have mutually agreed that it is in the best interest of both schools to cancel our home-and-home series scheduled for 2027 and 2028,” FSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. “We are now discussing playing a future neutral-site contest, and we are optimistic we will get that done. Importantly, this change will not reduce the total home games on our schedule moving forward.” Florida State opens its 2026 campaign on August 29 at Doak Campbell Stadium against New Mexico State.

Robinson and Micahi Danzy headline a wide receiver group once again coached by Tim Harris Jr., now promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2026 season.   CORAL GABLES – A strong second-half defensive performance propelled the University of Miami men’s basketball past No. 11 North Carolina, 75-66, Tuesday inside the Watsco Center.  Miami (19-5, 8-3 ACC) held the Tar Heels to just 26.5% shooting in the final 20 minutes and 1-of-14 from the beyond the arc to secure the program’s first win over a ranked team since Jan. 3, 2024.   The Hurricanes stormed out to a 10-point lead, 22-12, as Malik Reneau scored 10 of Miami’s first 22 points. North Carolina (19-5, 7-4 ACC) responded with an 11-2 run to trim the lead down to one before the Hurricanes answered and took a three-point lead into the half 43-40.  The two teams battled in the second half as the Canes pushed their lead to five, 51-46, with just under 15 minutes remaining.   TALLAHASSEE – The No. 14 Florida State football team defeated East Texas A&M 77-3 on Saturday afternoon at Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles (2-0) scored a touchdown on their first 10 drives, a first in program history. Florida State scored 77 points for the first time since defeating Delaware State 77-6 in 2017. FSU also tied the program record for its largest margin of victory at 74 points and tied the school record for touchdowns scored in a game with 11.  The Seminoles' 416 yards of offense in the first half is the highest first-half total by any team nationally this season. Florida State ended the game with 729 total yards, its most since totaling 771 against Clemson in 2000. Wide receiver Duce Robinson set single-game career-highs with five receptions, 173 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. His 160 receiving yards in the first quarter broke an FSU record.   MIAMI GARDENS. – Playing on a short week after an emotional victory, the Miami Hurricanes returned to Hard Rock Stadium and delivered just the performance they needed. The fifth-ranked Canes were ruthlessly efficient on offense, stingy on defense and controlled the game from start to finish, defeating Bethune-Cookman 45-3 before a crowd of 60,617. Miami improved to 2-0, while BCU fell to 0-2. The Canes racked up 543 yards, averaging 8.4 yards per play and scoring on all five of their red zone trips. Quarterback Carson Beck completed 22 of 24 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns. TALLAHASSEE (Florida Sports Wire)  –  Florida State Women’s Basketball freshman guard Ta’Niya Latson has tied the conference record by winning her ninth ACC Rookie of the Week award, announced on Monday. Latson’s latest honor ties her for the most in conference history with Wake Forest’s Tracy Connor (1992-93) and Duke’s Elizabeth Williams (2011-12). The Miami, Fla., native tied a season high with 13 made field goals against 11th-ranked NC State as FSU up-ended the Wolfpack, 91-72, to break a five-game losing streak against them. It was Latson’s sixth 30-point game of the season, breaking a record held by Natasha Howard in 2013-14 and Sue Galkantas in 1981-82. In FSU’s two games last week vs. No. 11 NC State and Louisville, Latson averaged 21.0 points and shot 50 percent (16-of-32) from the floor. TALLAHASSEE (Florida Sports Wire) – Florida State scored 17 unanswered points early in the third quarter to build a 38-24 lead and then held on to beat rival Florida 45-38 Friday night in Doak Campbell Stadium. Trey Benson’s 17-yard touchdown run with 4:06 left in the game broke a 38-38 tie and Florida’s last-minute drive to send the game into overtime died when Anthony Richardson’s pass on fourth and long fell harmlessly into the end zone. While Seminoles quarterback Travis Jordan’s passing numbers were modest, he was nearly unstoppable running the ball. Jordan finished 13 of 30 through the air for 270 yards and a touchdown and gained 83 yards on 15 carries with a pair of touchdowns. FSU’s defense gave up some big plays through the air, but limited UF’s Richardson to just nine completions on 27 attempts for 198 yards but three of those were for touchdowns. TALLAHASSEE -    Florida State scored on seven of its first eight possessions and starting quarterback Jordan Travis was able to sit out the entire second half as the 20 th -ranked Seminoles cruised to a 49-17 win over the Ragin’ Cajuns in Doak Campbell Stadium Saturday afternoon. Travis completed 9-of-14 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more scores as FSU mounted a 35-3 halftime lead. Trey Benson led a group of five running backs who gained 30 yards or more with 80 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.  Ten different FSU receivers caught a pass. FSU’s defense stifled Louisiana for most of the game limiting the visitors to just 4-of-14 on third downs.  The Seminoles recorded four quarterbacks sacks and six tackles-for-loss in the lopsided win.
