Icemen Tame Knight Monsters in Tahoe, 4-3 in OT

  By Mike Bonts STATELINE, NV – The Jacksonville Icemen spoiled the first ECHL game at the Tahoe Blue Event Center for the Tahoe Knight Monsters with a 4-3 overtime victory Thursday night. Brendan Harris scored his second goal of the night in the overtime session. Zach Jordan got the assist. The Icemen found themselves in overtime for the second straight game. Goaltender Matt Vernon picked up the win with 36 saves. Jesper Vikman took the loss while stopping 20 shots. The Knight Monsters recorded their first power play goal in the final two and a half minutes of the third to tie the game 3-3. With Garrett Van Wyhe in the box for hooking, Simon Pinard knotted the score, sending the game into overtime. Before Pinard’s goal Tahoe was 0 for 6 with a man advantage. Brennan Kapcheck and Sloan Stanick were credited with assists. Four minutes earlier, Kapcheck’s goal at 13:41 set up by Jett Jones and Chris Dodero made it 3-2. PWHL Unveils 2024-25 Regular-Season Schedule

  NEW YORK AND TORONTO – The Professional Women’s Hockey League ( PW HL ) today unveiled the official 2024-25 regular-season schedule, set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 30. The season will feature a total of 90 games, with each team playing 30 regular-season matchups— an increase of six games per team from the league’s inaugural season.  The  PWHL 's opening weekend will see all six teams hit the ice, with action set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2:00 p.m. ET, as the Toronto Sceptres host the Boston Fleet at Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto. Opening Day will also see the Ottawa Charge take on the Montréal Victoire at 5:00 p.m. ET at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. IFL: Jacksonville Sharks Announce Three Signings

JACKSONVILLE, FL -  The Sharks continue to build their roster for the 2025 season with the signings of DB  Tyrese Ross , DL  Tyquilo Moore  and the re-signing OL  Bryant Nolan Jr. Ross (6'0, 200 lbs) has experie n ced a varied and remarkable college football journey, playing for three universities from 2019 to 2024. His standout season came in 2023 at Samford University, where he tallied 44 total tackles, a pass deflection, and a fumble recovery.  Throughout his career, Ross consistently showcased his versatility and ability to adapt, having suited up for Washington State, South Carolina, and Samford. His smooth transitions between these programs, coupled with his success in different defensive systems, highlight his football intelligence and strong work ethic. Bobby Allison Officially Recognized as Winner of 1971 Myers Brothers Memorial

  DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 23, 2024)  — NASCAR today announced its recognition of Bobby Allison as the official winner of the NASCAR Cup Series Myers Brothers Memorial at Bowman Gray Stadium on August 6, 1971. The NASCAR record books have been updated to reflect Allison in sole possession of fourth place on the all-time Cup Series wins list with 85 wins.   “For 53 years, the Myers Brothers Memorial was the only race run by NASCAR that did not have an official winner,” said Jim France, NASCAR chairman and CEO. “As we began preparations for the upcoming Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, the topic of that August 6, 1971 race returned to the forefront.
