USF Women’s Soccer’s Fetaj Named the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas (September 1, 2025) – The American Conference announced its weekly accolades on Monday. Gentiana Fetaj represented the University of South Florida women’s soccer team as the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Hedda Ornberg landed on the weekly honorable mention.

Fetaj played a pivotal role in the South Florida defense and the attack. She provided a beautiful through ball from the defensive half of the field that led to an assist on the lone USF goal for the week. Defensively, she helped limit the goals surrendered to just one, which was against a nationally ranked opponent in No. 19 Wake Forest.

Ornberg scored the match-winning goal against UNCG. She was on the receiving end of a stellar pass and hit a perfectly placed shot into the back of the net. She leads the team with two goals on the season.
