JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced that the team has added a pair of veteran players, as Jack linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson and offensive lineman Ray McNeil have been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on one-year contracts. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The 34-year-old Jackson (6’2”, 200) enters his fifth season in the Arena Football League. Most recently, Jackson began the 2014 season with the New Orleans VooDoo, recording 39 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and three pass breakups during 14 regular season appearances. Jackson then joined the Cleveland Gladiators during the postseason, recording a total of 17 tackles and one interception over the course of the Gladiators’ three-game playoff run.
The 30-year-old McNeil (6’2”, 315) enters his fifth AFL season, most recently starting 14 games for the Tampa Bay Storm during the 2014 campaign. Prior to his stint with the Storm, McNeil saw action in 15 games along the offensive line with the San Jose SaberCats in 2013, making 12 starts.
McNeil spent the 2012 season with the Milwaukee Mustangs, making a total of 13 starts in 14 appearances. In 2011, McNeil broke into the AFL with the Utah Blaze before a midseason trade took him to the Spokane Shock. Between the two teams, he made a total of 15 starts that season.
In other Wednesday transactions, the Sharks announced that Mac linebacker Pierre Turner has been placed on recallable reassignment, and that the contract of offensive lineman Antonio Narcisse has been voided. Following the moves, the Jacksonville roster remains at the League maximum of 24 active players.
