Major League Soccer Makes Extensive Impact on U.S. Men's Olympic Team

NEW YORK – Earlier today, U.S. Soccer announced the 18-man roster for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which features 10 current players from Major League Soccer. U.S. Men’s Soccer will return to the Games for the first time since 2008 with a roster that is almost entirely composed of current or former MLS players. Of the 18 players U.S. Olympic Men’s Soccer Team head coach Marko Mitrović named, 17 of those spent have played in MLS or spent time in an MLS academy. Nine different MLS clubs are represented on the U.S. Men’s Olympics Roster as the Philadelphia Union will send two players to Paris – Nathan Harriel and Jack McGlynn. All three overage players currently play in Major League Soccer – FC Cincinnati defender and 2024 MLS All-Star Miles Robinson, Colorado Rapids designated player Djordje Mihailovic, along with five-time MLS Best XI selection and Nashville SC defender Walker Zimmerman . UFL: Orlando Storms Past Columbus For Season Opening Win

ORLANDO – The Orlando Storm etched their names in the UFL record books, winning the first game in franchise history against another new franchise in the Columbus Aviators, 23-16, to conclude week one of the 2026 UFL season. Passing and rushing hit on all cylinders for the Storm, totaling 356 yards of offense, spotlighted by a league-best 139 rushing yards. Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Jack Plummer threw an efficient 17-22, totaling 240 yards and one passing touchdown. Elijhah Badger led the night in receiving, snagging four catches for 127 yards.  Running back Jashaun Corbin played lights-out, leading the UFL in rushing yards (66) and rushing touchdowns (two) after week one. The Orlando Storm opened the season in electric fashion, as Andrew Parker forced a fumble on the opening kick, recovered by Josh Minkins, setting the Storm offense up in excellent field position to begin the season. Jumbo Shrimp swept with 11-2 loss to Red Wings

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (SportsDay Media) – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp were swept on Sunday in an 11-2 loss to the Rochester Red Wings at ESL Ballpark. The Red Wings (56-38, 11-10) opened up the scoring with a massive third inning. Jumbo Shrimp (50-44, 8-12) reliever Amos Willingham (0-2) issued a leadoff walk to Riley Adams before Cayden Wallace singled. Maxwell Romero Jr. followed with an RBI single for the game’s first run.  Christian Franklin then walked to bring up Abimelec Ortiz, who crushed a grand slam to make it 5-0. Two batters later, Andrew Pinckney doubled before scoring from second on a passed ball. Pinckney walked with one out in the fifth and Trey Lipscomb singled. Joey Wiemer brought in Pinckney with an RBI double before consecutive RBI singles from Adams and Wallace made it 9-0. Jacksonville got on the board in the sixth. Kemp Alderman led off with a double.
