Jaguars Camp Notebook: Former USFL QB Added to Camp Mix

 By Mike Bonts

JACKSONVILLE (SportsTicker) - Quarterback Kyle Sloter is in the Jaguars training camp after being added to the roster on July 24.

He played in nine games with the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL in 2022 and completed 168 of 291 passes for 1,798 yards and nine TDs. The Jaguars released QB EJ Perry with a non-football injury designation.

“I had watched him a little bit in the USFL this year in some of the spots he’s been in. He’s a young guy that, with EJ, again with an injury this summer, we had to decide because he needed another arm in here to keep throwing and all of that,” said head coach Doug Pederson on Monday. “This is a great opportunity for him to really embrace this chance, embrace this opportunity, get some time in maybe these first couple of games, and get some meaningful reps and tape out there not only for us but also for other teams.”

Sloter, 6-5, 218, most recently spent time in the NFL with the Vikings during the 2021 season.

A Johns Creek, Ga. native, Sloter attended Northern Colorado from 2015-16 and in 2016, he completed 198 of 319 passes for a school-record 29 TDs.

Jaguars training camp resumes Wednesday.
