MIAMI GARDENS (www.sportsdayjax.com) – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed cornerback Mark Gilbert and waived/injured fullback John Lovett. They have waived punter Michael Turk and waived/injured safety Bennett Williams.

Gilbert has played in eight career games, all with Detroit in 2021. He recorded three tackles (two solo), one pass defensed and one forced fumble. Gilbert was most recently with the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL, where he totaled 33 tackles (29 solo) and led the league with four interceptions.

He was on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad for most of the 2022 season. Gilbert played collegiately at Duke and signed with the Steelers as an undrafted college free agent on May 2, 2021.

Lovett joined the Dolphins on Feb. 18, 2022 and spent the 2022 season on injured reserve. He played in eight NFL games with Green Bay in 2020, totaling three carries for six yards (2.0 avg.) and registering four special teams stops.

Lovett originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Kansas City. He played quarterback and running back at Princeton.

Turk signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent. He played two years at Oklahoma (2021-22), where he was a first-team All-Big 12 selection both seasons. He also played two seasons at Arizona State (2019-20) and one at Lafayette College (2017).

In total, Turk played in 52 career games and was a first-team all-conference selection four times. He’s the nephew of former Dolphins punter Matt Turk, who played for the team for four seasons (2000-01, 2003-04).

Williams joined Miami as an undrafted college free agent. He played three seasons (2020-22) at Oregon, where he appeared in 25 games with 18 starts. He earned honorable mention All-Pac 12 recognition as a senior in 2022.

Williams recorded five interceptions in his final two seasons. He also played two years at College of San Mateo (2018-19) and began his collegiate career at Illinois (2017).

Miami also signed safety Myles Dorn and linebacker Mike Rose.

Dorn has played in 14 career games, all with Minnesota (2021-22). He’s totaled five career special teams tackles (2 solo). Dorn spent all of 2021 and 2022 with Minnesota after signing with the Vikings as an undrafted college free agent on April 27, 2020.

He spent this past offseason program with Carolina. Dorn played collegiately at North Carolina, where he was an honorable mention All-ACC selection as a senior in 2019.

Rose played for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL this past spring, appearing in eight games with six starts and totaling 35 tackles (15 solo). He spent the 2022 offseason and training camp with Kansas City after signing with the Chiefs as an undrafted college free agent.

Rose played collegiately at Iowa State, where he was a first-team All-American and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2020.

The first of Miami's preseason matchups is Friday, Aug. 11, at Hard Rock Stadium against the Atlanta Falcons.
