PGA TOUR: Nominees Announced for Jack Nicklaus Award and Arnold Palmer Award

 PONTE VEDRA BEACH (Florida Sports Wire)– The PGA TOUR announced nominees for the Jack Nicklaus Award (Player of the Year) and the Arnold Palmer Award (Rookie of the Year) for the 2024 season, as finalized by the PGA TOUR Player Directors and members of the Player Advisory Council (PAC).  Three players are nominated for the Jack Nicklaus Award as the 2024 PGA TOUR Player of the Year: Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler. The four nominees for the Arnold Palmer Award as the 2024 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year are Nick Dunlap, Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp and Matthieu Pavon. Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year are determined by a member vote, with PGA TOUR members who played in at least 15 events during the 2024 season eligible to vote. The voting will close on Wednesday, December 4, at 5 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced by the end of the year. NFL: 32 Players Nominated for 2024 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award

  By Nancy DeLander Beecher, Florida Sports Wire NEW YORK — Thirty-two players have been nominated for the eleventh annual Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award; the NFL announced today. Each NFL team nominated a player for the award, which recognizes individuals around the league who exemplify outstanding sportsmanship. Created in 2014, the award honors the late founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pro Football Hall of Famer Art Rooney Sr. A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community — Warrick Dunn, 2014 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award recipient Larry Fitzgerald, Pro Football Hall of Famer Curtis Martin and Leonard Wheeler — will select eight finalists (four in the AFC and four in the NFC) from the 32 nominees. Atlanta's Haider Named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

 SHREWSBURY, N.J. – Ethan Haider of the Atlanta Gladiators is the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 18-24. Haider went 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.99 goals-against average and a save percentage of .968 in two appearances last week. The 23-year-old stopped all 33 shots he faced in a 4-0 win at Orlando on Tuesday and made 28 saves in a 3-2 overtime victory against Jacksonville on Friday. Under contract to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League, Haider is 4-4-0 in eight appearances with the Gladiators this season. He is tied for second in the ECHL with two shutouts, ranks 10th with a 2.27 goals-against average and tied for 13th with a .919 save percentage. Prior to turning pro, Haider saw action in 101 career collegiate games at the University of Connecticut and Clarkson University compiling an overall record of 43-42-14 with eight shutouts, a 2.47 goals-against average and a save percentage of .909.  

NFL Notebook: Kansas City Defeats Carolina, 30-27, to Improve to 10-1 this Season

With two games remaining in Week 12, seven games were within one score (eight points) in the fourth quarter and five games were decided by eight-or-fewer points, including three teams – Cleveland, Kansas City and Minnesota – that recorded a game-winning score in the final minute of the fourth quarter or in overtime. There have been 82 games decided by six-or-fewer points this season, the most such games through Week 12 in NFL history. KC deated Carolina, 30-27, to improve to 10-1 this season as head coach Andy Reid became the third coach all-time with 19 seasons with 10-or-more wins, joining Bill Belichick (20 seasons with 10-or-more wins) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Shula (20). Orlando Pride’s Emily Sams Named 2024 NWSL Defender of the Year

 ORLANDO - (Florida Sport Wire) — The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that defender Emily Sams has been voted the 2024 NWSL Defender of the Year, becoming the first player from the Pride to win the award.  Sams ranked second in the NWSL in recoveries (163) and is the Club leader in possessions in the defensive third (108), clearances (76) and blocks (16). Sams recorded an 88.18 percent passing accuracy, the best among Orlando Pride defenders.  Behind Sams’s lockdown play, the Pride defense conceded just 20 goals, tied for fewest in the league. Tampa Bay Bucs: 18th Annual Event Set to Feed over 1,000 Families

On Tuesday, November 26, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line and Publix Super Markets will continue an annual tradition with the 18th annual Turkey Time with the O-Line, supported by Publix.  Buccaneers offensive linemen Graham Barton, Ben Bredeson, Luke Goedeke, Luke Haggard, Robert Hainsey, Elijah Klein, Cody Mauch, Lorenz Metz, Royce Newman, Raiqwon O'Neal, Justin Skule and Tristan Wirfs will distribute over 1,000 full Thanksgiving meals funded by the offensive line and Offensive Line Coach Kevin Carberry and Assistant Offensive Line Coach Brian Picucci. Housed in a new location, this year’s event will take place in the Flag Lot at the AdventHealth Training Center. NFL: Gameday Preview Bucs at Giants

(Florida Sports Wire) - The 4-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 2-8 New York Giants return to action Sunday at MetLife Stadium. New York has scored the fewest points in the league, averaging 15.6 per gam Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been moved to third on the team's depth chart; Tommy DeVito will be taking over the offense. DeVito, an undrafted free agent in 2023, started six games for the Giants last season and won three. "He's very good in the pocket, as far as escaping blitzes and pressures," said Buccaneers Head Coach Todd Bowles. "He can run around, he can throw the deep ball, he's very good at seeing the short stuff, seeing blitzes come and he's very good at getting out of harms' way.
