Flagler: Saints Reel in Sand Sharks with 14-hit Attack
ST. AUGUSTINE – Jaiden Warde and Caden Kresak combined to go 6-for-10 with five runs batted in and four runs scored in Flagler College’s 16-3 romp over USC Beaufort in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.Flagler won its fourth game in a row and improved to 10-21 overall and 6-11 in the Peach Belt. USC Beaufort dropped to 12-20 overall and 5-15 in conference play.The Saints wasted little time in jumping on the Sand Sharks. They scored three runs in the bottom of the first, two of which were unearned due to an USCB error. The Sand Sharks committed five errors in the game.Flagler added two more unearned runs in the second to take a commanding 5-0 lead.A four-run fifth inning followed by a seven-run sixth inning incurred the 10-run rule and the game ended in the middle of the seventh.The Saints sent 13 men to the plate in the sixth and had six hits. Matthew Burke hit a two-run single in that frame.Dylan Faulkner (3-3) allowed three runs on five hits in five innings of work to secure the win. Steven Reiss followed with two scoreless innings and struck out three batters.Warde went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and he scored two runs. Kresack collected three singles, scored two runs and knocked in two runs. Simms Owens finished with a pair of singles, scored two runs and he drove in two more. Trey Newland also had two singles, but he scored three runs and had one RBI. Newland also stole two bases.Scott Matthews (1-2) started for USC Beaufort and took the loss after surrendering one earned run on three hits in 1.2 innings pitched.Aiden Driscoll-Sadusky hit a two-run double in the fifth and scored a run.
