JU's Lotitio Named ASUN Pitcher of the Week
ATLANTA - Jacksonville University relief pitcher Chris Lotito was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the league office announced.
Lotito pitched three innings across three appearances last week, earning saves on two of three occasions.The Middletown, New Jersey native struck out seven batters and faced the minimum in two of his appearances. On Tuesday, Lotito's name was called upon for the ninth against ACC foe Florida State. The redshirt sophomore struck out three and recorded four outs to get out of a jam to secure the win against the Seminoles.
Lotito's other two appearances came against Eastern Kentucky in a conference weekend series. Lotito nearly had an immaculate inning on Friday; striking out all three batters he faced on just 10 pitches.
When Lotito took the mound on Saturday, in a non-save situation, he used 11 pitches to throw a perfect ninth inning and nabbed another strikeout in the process.Lotito is the second Dolphin this season to win Pitcher of the Week from the ASUN after Evan Chrest did so on March 20. He currently leads the nation with nine saves.
